Behind November’s Snail Mail Club Art

Behind November’s Snail Mail Club Art

Thanksgiving is the best holiday in my opinion…it is about being grateful, bringing together family and friends, sharing food and being around a table filled with love.  I have been and continue to be, fortunate to have this as my Thanksgiving experiences.

I am keenly aware of fleeting moments, of cherishing moments with loved ones and acknowledging abundance in both love, food and shelter.  Taking pause to soak it all in is to feel all the laughter and the connections.  Yes, it can be chaotic and sometimes dramatic, however it is in these experiences that we form bonds, secure memories and share what makes us human.

The images for November’s snail mail club grew from my memories and sentiments surrounding the holiday of gratitude  -  the beautiful dishes that we used year after year, the recipes still must make their annual appearance, the emotions of grace, gratitude and generosity.  The color scheme is reminiscent of the 70s, my childhood and as I was drawing (and then assembling the components to be sent out), my mind happily went back to the kitchen I grew up in.  I hope that the snail mail members feel a bit of nostalgia as well as current moments of grace when they open their hug in the envelope.
